I’ve mentioned that when I paint I love having a good audiobook to listen to. As I’ve experimented with writing this month, I’ve realized having a good song on my headphones is invaluable.

My current favorite writing song is Outro by M83. It’s lyrics are limited which helps my brain avoid tangling my words and the song words. But I adore the few lyrics that are there:

I’m the king of my own land. Facing tempests of dust, I’ll fight until the end. Creatures of my dreams raise up and dance with me!

While it has become clear to me that I’m no literary genius, writing has this thrilling feeling of calling up the creatures of my dreams, the ghosts of my imagination to dance out a story.
