Gideon is growing up fast. He turned seven …and eight months old. He’s a fun kid.
He seems to eat his own weight in food at every meal, inhaling everything we put near. Except bread which he disdainfully drops on the floor. I handed him an apple the other day, when I looked back he’d reduced the apple to half a core and I had to fish the seeds out if his mouth. Those teeth are sharp.
He can clap his hands, wave, sign more and All done! When greatly up set he will yell Mama! He also says a very sweet hi. He’s started scooting around which he mostly employs to crawl back into my arms so he can watch the crazy big kids at a safe distance.
He loves being part of the action and especially adores Miriam. Probably because she loves to get in his face and babble. I think she appreciates having a person in the family that will listen to her chatter on and on. She calls him Mr Bubba and Bubby.
He loves Reuben too and likes watching Reuben throw and shoot a ball, something Reuben does for large chunks of each day.
He’s a determined little person that seems very sure about what he wants and no matter what the rest of us do will find a way to get it (for example, the kids Halloween candy)
I don’t always draw with crayons. I made this for Halloween. It started as a young witch and became a kind of ode to Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Kids are drawing with crayons. I took the opportunity to draw the cat.
It’s a rainy day. While the baby naps I’m sketching the other kids.
Miriam likes to crawl inside and sit in the ikea storage cubes.
Last Sunday Miriam got herself ready for church. She picked out and put on her dress, buckled her Sunday shoes, and even brought me the brush and allowed her hair to be done with minimal whining. Pleased with her work, she asked me to take a picture. I casually snapped a photo wondering where she learned to pose like that.
She then asked if she could have another picture with her brothers and Dad. And this is what resulted. I think of it as “when babies attack.”
It started out well.
Then Reuben thought it’d be funny to taunt baby Gideon.
While I took the nature documentary track and continued filming, Aaron was the responsible parent and broke it up.
Note Miriam’s determined attempt to smile on.
Gideon turned 6 months old the same week our marriage turned 9 years old. We finally got around to convincing Gideon to sleep through the night so we celebrated by sleeping through the night. It was dreamy.
Gideon’s personality is starting to show in funny ways. He hates being left out, set down, or denied. He’s a very determined little person. Once he has what he wants, mostly to be in on the action, he wriggles with satisfaction. He enjoys biting things with his razor sharp teeth and shrieking to get the kids’ attention.
