Early last spring the kids helped me plant a few tiny tomato seeds in starter cups. A few weeks later they helped me transplant the spindly seedlings to our garden. I didn’t expect much, but we watched the little sprouts miraculously grow into a jungle of tangled and beautifully productive vines.

The frost and storms have finished our garden for this season. So this afternoon Miri and Reuben made the last tomato harvest of the year. The final count was three red tomatoes and 118 green tomatoes. R picked 53 and Miri scrounged up 68.

I really need a good green cherry tomato recipe.

Quite a harvest. I had no idea there were so many ways to eat green tomatoes. They mention chutney, relish, etc., but what looked best to me was salsa verde where instead of using roasted tomatillos they used roasted cherry tomatoes.
